Talk me out of this, some reviews are bad on this one

ok so, I wanted the corsair professional gold series 850w, this one is a great power supply, but for some reason with alot of people it creates a high pitched squeal when turned off, so im probably going to get a TX 850 or whatever it is, because this one happens to have a high pitched squeal. Also I noticed, this was a 180$ PSU, it dropped to 140, no sale no deals or anything, I think they dropped it for those "squeal" reasons. I still would like it, especially since its cheaper now, but im pretty sure im better off with a different 850w model. Also, ignore my signature for my build, im still picking out my parts, that was just for a different reason I put it up.

What do you need an 850W unit for?

Where did you get the info that it makes a high pitched squeal? Shouldn't that be something covered by Corsair's warranty?

In any case I'd advise against spending that much on a PSU, you can get away with about half that. E.g. XFX 850W XXX 80+ silver modular $100 AR shipped.

I decided on a modular 750w, 5/5 and has no problems, is the right power too. and is like 110$ anyway I got these reviews from everywhere, newegg, amazon, anywhere on the internet, type it into google, you'll find it.

The squealing isn't exactly unique to the AX850. I've heard other people complain about other model of Corsair PSUs squealing, but even then, not every PSU of that model had that issue.

I have a corsair PSU and it squeals (barely audible) when turned off. I thought maybe it was getting bad power or something but from what I'm reading here its a common problem. What causes the squealing and is it bad long term?

Several things can cause a squeal or whine. And, in some situations, the sound will appear to be coming from the PSU when it is actually coming from another component. This is also not unique to Corsair PSUs.

The most common cause cause of this sound is coil whine related to the graphics card.
