You know, I just realized that at the rate I'm accumulating games compared to the rate I actually play them, at some point I'll need someone to convince me not why I need to buy a game but why I need to take the time to download and play one of the games I have on Steam over the rest of them, lol.

Its fun right? If i liked GTA and saints row ill like this yeah?

ill let you in on a secret: there's a free demo! :p

It gives you like 30min (??) of gameplay time, which is enough to play w/some weapons & find some cool vehicles and whatnot. After the demo I was like omfg, totally must buy this.

Story and voice acting sucks, yet it's still the most fun I've had in a game in a while. Plenty of mods for the PC as well which makes it even more fantastic.

Just bought it earlier thanks to the raving in the Steam thread. Meh, it's $5. I don't feel like playing it right now.

The game isn't known for its plot, character development, combat system, etc. However, it's a great game if you just want to log in and screw around (kind of GTA style). The grappling hook makes for some good fun, and there's a LOT of wide open roads for crusing around and blowing things up.

Let's put it this way, you can jump in a vehicle, take it up to high speed, and press space at any time to jump out/open parachute while you watch it barrel off the road, into a building, and blow up.

Oh, AND you get points for doing that. ;)

GTA isn't really my thing, but I'd still say if GTA 4 gets a 6/10 (in my book), Just Cause 2 gets an 8/10 for the mindless blow-things-up fun.

There was a multiplayer mod in the works...unfortunately the project died :(

Had there been multiplayer in just cause 2...It would have been my personal game of the decade.

Just Cause 2 is the shit. I love it. So fun to just screw around in. The places to discover are insane. The characters are overdone in the best way. The combat is awesome and the game looks awesome. It's well worth $5.

If it had co-op multiplayer the game would be like 100x better

Well I tried it. This game is too repetitive for my taste. Also controls are hard to understand, and in this game they are very important. But otherwise it's a fun game.

Learning to surf/travel with the grappling hook and parachute made the game a blast for me.

The same for me. Except it took me like 10 hours into the game before I figured it out. I would suggest anyone new to the game to figure it out early as it is a fun and fast way to travel.

The game itself is a blast, the voice acting and "plot" are pretty terrible, but honestly that's just fine with me. Some of the missions are pretty fun, others are really predictable. The controls are easy to get used to and the auto-aim is pretty generous, but it fits the style of gameplay.

Due to the sandbox style it takes some getting used to the mission structure (that is, almost no structure) if you are used to a FPS. There is very little of the game telling you what to do and when.

There is a TON of island to explore and plenty of things to blow up and firefights to get into. There are endless ways of playing the game. Personally I find it a lot of fun to ride on top of a friendly gang's vehicle as you blow things up as he drives.

I've also bought it for $5, and so far logged in about 20 hours. It is well worth the $5.
Oh, and the game's visuals are really quite nice

Sometime I want someone to make a game like this, except with the option to have realistic driving and flying mechanics. Plug in a nice wheel and joystick and you could have some serious "simulation" fun.
