Two-Faced Kitten Turning Heads

Animal With Rare Birth Defect Born In West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A kitten born in West Virginia is creating a buzz because it has four eyes, two noses and two mouths -- and perhaps 18 lives. VIDEO: Two-Faced Kitten

The owners of the kitten named the animal Two Face after it was born with a rare genetic condition called Diprosopus, which causes doubling mutations of the face.

Two Face's veterinarian said animals with the condition rarely survive for very long, but the kitten's owners are hoping the animal beats the odds.

The Kanawha Humane Society is helping the owners provide the kitten with the specialized care it needs. But when a call was made seeking help for the kitten, animal services worker Stephanie Gomez said she thought it was a prank.

"There was a lady who called and said she had a two-headed cat, and I really didn’t believe her. I told her give him some milk, and two bottles, cause there are two heads," she said.

For now, Two Face is nursing with its brothers and sisters and appears to be doing OK.The owners said they hope the condition means Two Face has a chance at 18 lives.

gah! with fire, kill it!

Now, for serious discussion - can it use both faces?
Can it operate both faces independently?
Choose to eat with one mouth or the other? Because I'd switch it up from time to time, just because.

I don't know if it's ambifaceious :p (totally not a word, but it means to be able to use both faces equally... you get the idea)

Someone noted in the comments at the link that usually the mother cat will kill a mutated kitten at birth, but she didn't this one.

Human intervention defying natural selection once again!

I for one, welcome our 2 headed cat overlords.

Some guys will try to tell you that all pussies are two-faced.

I say, if you can't join 'em, lick 'em.

My cats very intelligent, he'll sit on the fence just out of reach of the dogs and completely ignore them. While they bark and snark and jump when they'll never be able to reach him. The cat's smart enough to know the dogs won't ever get to him, but the dogs though never seen to figure it out :D

He does it every day, and I'm pretty sure on purpose too.
