I've had cpu temps at 40, 41C since i built my system, about 3 weeks ago. I though it was a bit hot, but i didn't really worry too much about it. Then it occurred to me. I opened up my case and checked, and damn sure enough i had my intake fan blowing the wrong damn way. Now i'm down to 36C. Word of warning always check direction of airflow, unlike my dumbass.

We learn by our mistakes. Don't think you're the first guy on here to do something really dumb to his system.

hey, at least you didn't have a 1ghz t-bird whose heat sink is not touching the core by a micrometer or so and it burned to a crisp in a matter of seconds. no, didn't happen to me, just seen it on sites.

small mistakes are cool. actually, little mistakes like that rock because they make you more conscious of what you are doing to your system... unless you are an idiot like me :D

lol.. don't worry, my friend did far worst to his computer

He burned his Powersupply because he forgot to turn offed the surged, then he went onto burned another one because the PS fan was broken and overheated.

He killed numerous cdrom drives before, mostly because they're crap and snap. And then he went on to burned his Ram by accidentally set the Ram Voltage from 3.3 to 5v

He burned his old BE6 II mobo this one time from from screwed up jumper settings he was messing around w/ and didn't know what the fvck he was doin.

And the finally, he burned his then BRAND NEW Celeron 566 by not using the internal Voltage control in the mobo soft bios, instead went stright to the Slotket jumper, but well, he screwed up one jumper, so instead of giving the CPU the 1.65v that he intended it to, he sends 3.5V to his cpu. His chip died rite away, all the thermopaste had been burned off clean, and you can smell it in the room, the core itself, instead of dark blue/purple looking, it was completely black. As with the surrounding area.

Needless to say we all laughted our asses off about that one.

At least your not the guy who tried to test a DC fan in an AC wall outlet and blew up the fan with a very loud bang. Who was that guy?

At least you caught it before it could do serious damage to your system.....
