I just got back from eating dinner out at a restaurant in town, and it was the most awkward eating experience I've had in awhile. 2 tables away from us there were these two couples eating dinner together. We order dinner, and begin to chat amongst ourselves. 20 minutes later our food comes, and out of nowhere one of the husbands at the table near us starts berating the other man's wife. I hear F bombs left and right coming from both the woman and the man. I think I even heard the c word once or twice. Soon enough the woman storms off mad as hell, and her husband, who at this point hadn't said anything in defense of her, gets up, pats the man on the back, and chases after her.
At this point my family and I are all wondering WTF is with the husband for not doing anything. Throughout this ordeal the entire restaurant is quiet, so these people at the table are making quite a big scene. 2 minutes after she stormed off the husband returned, and starting eating with the man and his SO like nothing happened. Really ruined my night. I fucking hate tourists. :|

So anything really awkward happen to anyone else today?

Should have said something to the manager to get them kicked out.

I know it's fun in such situations to think up of tons of possible scenarios and stories for what's going on in that family (we all do it) but the truth is without knowing their specific circumstances there is no way to make any judgement. Life's complicated and very often sucks hard for many people.

I could clearly hear what they were arguing about, but I didn't hear all of it. Something about wanting to be in control of what they were doing while vacationing up here. Stupid shit like that.

Maybe the guy asked for a 4some, the wife got pissed and left, than he said how about a threesome and the husband came back to eat dinner and go out later?

I really want to chime in with something witty about 3somes, but I am too tired.

Its really easy to make a big deal out of situations like this. The truth is that their actions disrupted your dinner for a few minutes, your reaction disrupted it the rest of the time. The swearing only lasted for a minute, your thoughts and speculations are what lasted so long. I'm not saying that I wouldn't have wondered what was going on, I just wouldn't let it ruin my night.

Sometimes its better to just make up a funny story in your head about what's going on. I guess maybe 3somes and midgets are going to be part of my reply...

I probably should've mentioned that she came back after awhile, and they started yelling again. They kept it up til at least after we paid and left. >_<

you want to talk about an awkward situation?

One time during sex I called Lois "Frank". Your move, Sherlock.

In that case, you should have given her surprise buttsecks as punishment. :D

Maybe its just me, but I HAVE to focus on my reaction to situations like this. I can either accept them and make the best of them, or dwell on how much I don't like it....

I don't like to dwell on the negative, so I spend time in my happy place.

You should have flipped open your phone and told them if they didn't shut up you were going to call the cops.

Well, his wife is most likely outside trying to find a ride home. You should have gone out to comfort her.
