Seems OK to me. My friend owns a 300 sq ft apt that cost over 300k in midtown. Thats what it costs to live in one of the best cities in the world.

You have a mansion in the middle of nowhere for that? Good for you! Different lifestyles.

That. You can live in something that small provided you're not home a lot and don't entertain. People in NYC are usually out and about and their places are often little more than crash pads. So the space isn't a killer. But even by NYC rent standards that is a huge amount of money for that little space.

The vacancy rate in Manhattan is 1.07%

Not sure I've ever even been on a cruise ship with a cabin that small.

Whatever works I guess, I like room, depends on what you are doing I suppose.

Still unemployed atm and still sitting in 2000 sq ft.

Of course have been paying for it a long time now, should have been by now.

Hm…I'm bumping up against $8 per sq foot in SF in something not half as well located. He's a block from two major subway stations, central park, and no more than three blocks from basically every store you can think of.

It's sad this doesn't seem crazy to me anymore.

Yeah, considering the location its probably reasonable. I would do it until I could find something better, but doubling the sqft in that area might double the rent! I've only been to Manhattan a few times, at about a week each time. Living there would be great, and I think the further you are from it the less I'd want to live in NY at all. Must be pretty sweet to just step out of your place and be in the middle of things.
