Tales of Monkey Island - which sequel is it ?

Officially, is "Tales of Monkey Island" the 5th or 6th game in the series?

I'm asking because, I heard a rumor some time back saying that "Tales of Monkey Island" takes place after the events of the non-existent game Monkey-5. Is there any truth in it ?

If so, can someone give me links? I can't find anything on TellTale's site, but I might have missed it.

According to Grossman, Telltale Games does not consider Tales of Monkey Island to be Monkey Island 5, as Monkey Island 5 needs to be "a blockbuster, epic 40-hour gigantic experience like the earlier games; what we're doing instead is a Monkey Island series". Instead, he views Tales of Monkey Island as being set after an "imaginary" Monkey Island 5.
