Telltale Games announced that they will be working on an adventure game (similar to their other games such as The Walking Dead and Fables) along with Gearbox called Tales from the Borderlands. I haven't seen much information or any screenshots about it. Although, I'm sure we'll hear more in the future!

EDIT:

There's a tiny bit more information from IGN:

The project will include both existing characters in the Borderlands universe and new ones, some of whom will be "wanna-be Vault Hunters" according to Gearbox head Randy Pitchford.

Tales from the Borderlands is "very much in the Borderlands world" but contains Telltale's typical gameplay, though it's promised to be "big and bombastic."
Telltale will develop the game, but Gearbox is consulting and helped to come up with the project.
More details on who you'll play as and other details will be announced at a later date.

Look like it follows how Handsome Jack came to power?

awesome

I hope not... I hope they push the story further and it looks to me Handsome Jack is digitalized. It would be one way to bring him back, looking at how BL2 ended ;)

I don't really care for Handsome Jack much, so I hope he's not a huge part of the story.

Also, the not-so-secret Game of Thrones game from Telltale was also confirmed!

I'd prefer to see it be the backstory of Jack and how he came to power in Hyperion and on Pandora, but I don't think it will be. It's probably easier to sell "more vault hunting" lol.

now that I thought about it for a few seconds, it probably wouldn't be within that time frame.

The video takes place in Marcus' shop in Sanctuary, and Sanctuary came to be as a refuge from Jack, so he would already have been in power.

Perhaps it's best that they just keep it a completely separate sort of story and game, being that these aren't vault hunters. So, no loot system and a very different goal. Basically get to experience Pandora without being the one person that can save everyone, etc.

I'd rather this so that the typical game/story is reserved for Borderlands 3, and we don't need to see any of the current vault hunters in the game--though it would be nice to get a few cameos.

That's already explained in Borderlands 2.

Along with the difference between choking and strangulation :)

But not in any detail, so they could make an adventure about Jack's rise to power with quite a bit of new material.

As zinfamous says, since we see Marcus in Sanctuary it's probably correct that the game will be set after that instead of as a flashback.

yeah, that whole story is found in 4, or 8 total audio logs, I think (I remember details found in 2 different sub-missions, roughly the same area)

But it would be neat to actually see more of Jack as the low-level code monkey

I thought Pritchford said they might not make a BL3. Maybe I dont recall correctly. I want to get excited about this, but the pre-sequel has put a damper on my BL enthusiasm. Or maybe I am just getting burned out. For sure if it is about Handsome Jack I am not interested. He was a great villain in BL2, funny and over the top, and you really loved to hate him. Especially after the pre-sequel it is time to move on though.

I still hope for a great BL3, especially after what happens at the end of the second game opens up a huge possible number of new storylines. Dont really know why they went back to Handsome Jack instead of just moving on to another setting. Honestly, I got more enjoyment out of Tiny Tina's DLC than the whole game for the Pre-Sequel.

I think the story for the Pre Sequel is great, but I'm generally burned out on it all (it's just too much like a very long DLC of BL2).

I like what they did with Jack in TPS, and particularly with
showing what dicks the vault hunters are/were--for essentially making Jack an evil wise and beautiful woman
, but yeah--it's time to move on.

This doesn't really interest me anymore. I saw it was releasing next week or something, and I just can't do much more of BL right now--yeah, I'll probably get DLC for TPS, but it doesn't grab me like it used to.

I am not sure about that part about what happened to Jack and why. That is part of why I dont like TPS I think. Jack was such an evil manipulative character in BL2, seems kind of two faced to try to come back and make him a sympathetic character, especially the way they did it. Just my opinion though, if you like that plot angle, I can understand it.

He didn't say they weren't going to make BL3...He said they didn't know what directions they wanted to take it. At least that's what I got out of the article. So effectively, we have not started it yet, see you in 2018.
