I've been waiting for sometime now for the newer 939 pin CPU's and motherboards to come out.
I've become impatient as I just received a rather large bonus check, so I'm jumping in now.
I know I should wait, but alas I'm addicted and I CAN'T!!!

Purchased
FX-53 ATHLON 64
ASUS SK8V K8T800
1 GB Corsair XMS Extreme Registered DDR PC-3200 Cas Latency: 2-3-2-6

This system HAS to last me untl the end of the year! ;)

I had enough left over I'm now waiting for a nVidia 6800 Ultra :(

Thanks.
I'm replacing a 2.8c P4 that I have been running at 3.5, I'm using a DangerDen water cooling system as I type.
Thats one great thing about water cooling a system. The performance is superb and when changing water blocks for a new type cpu it isn't really expensive anymore.
I also ordered an A64 waterblock it only cost me $35

Yeah, water's nice isn't it? I love not worrying about temps and vcore. And of course silence is golden.

How is the durability on the water cooling system though?

I mean, can you leave it for months, or do you have to add water every week?

Id worry about the pump failing or something... that's a lot of expensive stuff in my PC, still not sure I want water in there! :Q

The system has been running for months :)
No problems at all. As far as the pump quiting, the motherboard is set to turn off the system as soon as the CPU hits 65C which is below tollerance for the CPU.

The A64 is alot faster than the P4 I had. it's very noticeable.
I'll post some benches tomorow morning when I get off work.

THe FX chips are mutiplier unlocked.
So just increase the voltage reset the cpu to a workable multi. Say 2600 MHz
Then increase the FSB from there

Just curios what OS are you using? I am looking to put together a similar system (FX53 based) though I haven't decided which Mobo or case to use yet. Probably will use XP, Linux dual boot, How's the stability so far?

Is that a 64 bit version of XP Pro ? I was running XP on my old 1ghz Athlon System which I used an Abit Kt7-Raid MB, 2 60 gig IBM Deskstar drives (Real Troopers!) a now old ASUS AGP-V7700 Nvidia w 64 meg. I could never get XP to work properly so I took it off and went back to Win 2000 SP4 which is like a rock on this box.

Not yet,
I'm running the 32 bit version.
ATI doesn't have a good working release of 64 bit drivers yet.
I expect it will be quite a while before 64 bit will take off.
