Taking screen-grabs of VCD/MPG movies

This has turned out to be quite the interesting little puzzle. For starters, it's odd that neither PowerDVD or WinDVD have a "Save Image" feature, that would work when it's in Pause mode. That, all by itself, is kind of strange.

Using the Print/Scrn key, or a real screen-grabber (like ScreenThief), also doesn't work.

And the big problem is that they won't load into Premiere, either a MPEG-enhanced version of 5.1c, or 6.0. "Unknown file format". Both Premieres load older MPEGs just fine.

For what it's worth, I have an ATI 128 video card, which is always suspect whenever I have a video or graphics-related problem.

So, any thoughts on this little puzzler?

Thanks mucho,
Benchie
