Stephen Collins — best known for playing a wholesome minister and a dad of seven on "7th Heaven" — confessed to molesting and exposing himself to at least three young girls over several years.

Collins admitted to the sinful crimes in 2012 during a therapy session with his now ex-wife Faye Grant, TMZ reported. Grant secretly recorded the incriminating counseling session during their painful 2012 divorce, and the gossip site obtained the tapes this week.

The New York Police Department launched an investigation last week, investigating the 67-year-old for inappropriate sexual contact with minors, TMZ reported.

In the recording, Collins told his wife he exposed himself to an underage New York girl several times: when she was 11, 12 and 13 years old. She was a relative of his first wife Marjorie Weinman, he said.

for all the talk of "stranger danger" and worries about pedos prowling the playgrounds, children are sadly far more likely to be molested by someone they know (family/family friends)

if this is true, I hope the fucker rots.

Yikes, so creepy.

Guess we have to assume someone is listening at all times these days.

The tapes won't hold up in court. I mean, his career is probably ruined, but he won't face criminal charges unless the kids come forward. Tapes recorded illegally can't be admissible as evidence. Sucks, because it sounds like (him admitting to it) that he deserves more than a public image problem.

This is true. That's why predators try to insert themselves into positions of trust and authority. When the police bust someone, it's rarely a case of opportunism.

I hope the guy gets what he deserves, but what's the punishment for the wife? I can't imagine secretly recording a therapy session is a very light crime.

When you secretly record the confession of a child molester or racist, nobody cares that you illegally recorded them and then put it out to the public. Look what happened to Donald Sterling. Nobody cared about the recording and "leaking", they just went full "omg an 80 year old guy is racist!" rage mode. Same will happen to this guy.

I would imagine she decided to tape these sessions after him previously confessing to similar things though.

he also admited he had one touch his penis.

though i wonder how legal the recordings are.

I'd assume it would depend on which state the recordings were made (1-party consent or all-party consent)... otherwise, as far as I know, in any kind of group therapy, the other participants are not legally bound to the same confidentiality rules as the psychologists themselves.

As sick as what this man did, FUCK his ex. She secretly recorded a private counseling session between him and her and then sent it to the media? Fuck that, shes a literal bitch.

What he did is unforgivable, her actions are totally justified.

You don't get away with child abuse just by saying "this is a secret but..." before admitting to it.

From what I heard this morning, one party recordings are legal in CA where the recording was done. They are illegal in NY (where the acts occurred) except for gathering evidence of a crime. So he's probably screwed and she probably did nothing illegal (and would unlikely be prosecuted/convicted anyway).
