so finally set up my new rig nf7-s w/ xp2500
took out my 200gig drive and stick it into the new machine
and of course it gave me a blue screen

is there any program that will fix this problem, or will i need to reinstall win xp pro?
(win xp pro install process mention something about migrating user profile/settings, is this relevant
here?)

thanx

Insert your XP cd and do an install over the existing version (e.g. and upgrade install). It should fix the HW issues but leave most if not all of your settings in tact.

it's not the option to repair the xp install right?

so i should ignore this msg and reinstall into the SAME windows directory? (wouldn't that overwrite settings?)

A repair will relay down all of the files, an upgrade (to the same dir) will also redetect all of the hardware. Since it's an upgrade (just as if you where going from XP home to XP pro), the majority of your settings (and your installed programs) will remain and will *not* be overwritten.
