Taking college courses to learn HTML, good idea?

Yes I know I could learn the hard way by fooling around, online tutorials, books, books, books, CD's, templates, etc.

However I'm thinking about taking a few college courses to learn HTML, the advantages are:
1) Additional college credits, not like I need anymore.
2) Employer paid tuition = FREE education.
3) Structured learning environment in the classroom or via distance learning.

Portlanders, should I go with PCC or PSU remember that $$$$$ is not a problem.

Hey, if it's a free class, then take it. I would -- and I already am very familiar with HTML. Easy 'A', easy credit.

Free education is always a good idea! I always take advantage of tuition reimbursement.

Different people learn best through different methods. Taking a class is a good idea and has some definite advantages... such as not getting frustrated when trying to teach yourself because you don't know what you're looking for or where to find it.

Free education is always a great thing. I, personally, like to take classes as opposed to "learning it myself"... I never seem to pick up the nuances if I just plug through something (actually, I never really learn it unless I have to DO it... so things come slowly). I would personally suggest taking classes in person... that way, you actually SEE your teacher and you can sit down and ask actual question (email tag only goes so far).

HTML is relatively easy.... if they're going to be picking up the tab, you should take an HTML class... then maybe a Java class... and then (if they have it) a web development class.... that way you could easily make a nice webpage for anyone (or yourself!).

A side note: HTML itself is really easy.... but one of the subtle arts (that MANY people keep forgetting) is that a "flashy" webpage isn't necessarily a good one. Hopefully, you'll have a teacher that will teach you a bit about aesthetics and loading time (some people don't want to wait 10 minutes for a flash website to load).

Yes, like everyone's saying, free education is fine... as long as you get to do it ON (during) company time. If you have to take night courses, even though your company is paying for it... I wouldn't. HTML is easy enough to pick up a weeks at most. And it's not really the "hard way".

It wouldn't be during company, it would be during my own personal time but I think it would be great to learn.

Like everyone has said so far, a free education is good.
