I have an eMachines M6805, it came with 512MB of RAM, and I want to upgrade to 1GB. The problem is that it comes with 2x256MB sticks, one of which is internal. Does anyone know how to open this beast up? I found some pics of one open at http://www.wereshark.com/m6805/, however, there were no instructions there. Any info would be a help, I don't want to just start prying things off.

lol "Poor design."

Im not sure you're gonna get much help here, even less from eMachines. Sorry, I have no idea.

you could just buy a 1 gig ram and upgrade it to 1.25G which is what I did with my m6811 (same model except for different accessories and speed). If you do this, you only have to open the bottom memory which is just one screw. There's a huge thread here somewhere about emachines m68xx you might want to look at.

Thanks, all. I found the crazy 27page thread on {H}ardForums* about the M68XX series, along with some more stuff from WereShark on his disassembly. I emailed him from the his address there, so possibly i'll get a reply. I already (3 months ago) bought a 512MB stick, thinking I'd just pop it in and have a nice gig of RAM. Well, I had to take out the easily accessible 256MB and replace it with my new 512MB, so I have 768MB now, but that still comes a little short some times. Especially since laptop hard drives aren't too fast, so if it has to go to the swap file, there's a pretty big performance hit.
Anyhow. I'll look through notebookforums.com, maybe get some ideas.

using [] brackets highlights everything, lol, so I edited
