Hey gang I'm trying to take apart my Toshiba 1735 Laptop, I've got all of the screws out on the bottom and the corners are coming detached, but it's not coming apart, it feels like there is something in the back or middle that could be holding it down, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I need to do to get this thing open ? Somehow my floppy drive got jacked up (probably my brother) and I wanna look to see if some kind of connection is just loose or something that I could immediately fix...

thanks for all the tips...

ok, it's now my understanding that you have to take off the keyboard first, so how do you do that?

there should be a piece of plastic right below the keyboard, take that out, not under but below, near the elbow rest.

OK.

The MOST important thing to remember is that they SOMEHOW put it together. And they were planning on taking it apart again in case they needed to fix or upgrade the thing. Therefore, there are always screws, locks and little plastic thumbs that keep it all together, but eventually it will open. Just think like the manufacturer. It only looks difficult. They weren't planning on spending 2 hours opening the case if you RMA'ed it and asked them to fix it.

There are usually rubber or plastic stickers/covers that hide screws on the bottom of the laptop; sometimes they even put labels (like one with the serial number) over screws. Feel them with a finger to make sure no screws are hidden.

It took me 15 minutes to fully learn the external structure of my laptop, but then only 5 minutes to physically take it apart.

Don't pull or push too hard - if it doesn't give, it's probably not designed to come apart that way.

Explore, and you will be rewarded!

Never underestimate the power of documentation. I'm bored at work so I looked up the user guide info for you at http://www.toshiba.com.

Dowload it at http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/s175guide.exe

You might get some info in that, or you may have to dig a little deeper at this massive URL below for the docs you need. If you can get this baby to work you'll be treated to a virtual smorgasbord of info on the 1735:

Happy disassembling.

LOL VBboy.. yeah I work on friends and family PCs all the time, and have built at least 50 PCs in my lifetime, but this is the first notebook I have ever had, more or less ever tried to take apart, man this thing is weird! You can tell they definitely wanted to hide how to take it apart! :Q
