A site that me and a few friends run (basically a blog targeted toward college students) are going to be mentioned in the New York Times this week, so we expect the site that currently gets very ltitle traffic to increase by a very noticeable amount. Currently we just run google ads on there which is working out well for what it is, but is there anything more that we can do to take advantage of the occassion?

It depends. If you are not looking for long-term visitors (or your site is not the type that would attract that), then you can put more advertisements than usual up during that period.

First thing's first, you better be sure your site can handle the traffic.

QFT

We received a substantial amount of traffic from a NYTimes article (online and print) but then again it's hosted on a dedicated server (Dual Opteron) ;)
