Taking a semester off perhaps

I'm contemplating taking a semester off of school just because I am so sick of it.
I know this might sound like I am really lazy but here's the deal: I am really sick of school, I wanted to quit a long time ago, but I've been pushing myself through it. It's my senior year, I could just finish my last semester this spring and graduate, but its going to be my hardest semester yet! And I honestly feel like I am out of gas.

I was thinking I could take the spring off (right now I'm taking J term) so come February I was thinking then I could look for a job, and go back and finish everything in the fall.

The thing is: Would any place hire me, if they knew I was going to quit within 6 months to go back to school? Working reduced hours would be tricky, because I have to take an internship for a class in my last semester, that requires 10 hours a week. So I guess I just want to find a job that will hire me for 6 months. Or maybe there is something else I could do for 6 months, I dont know.

You only have one semester left. Just fvcking finish. Most people who take a break with the intention of coming back end up getting a job and never finishing. Ten years from now, do you really want to be without that degree cause you couldn't handle four more months of classes? It's not like work is going to be all that much more fun.

Only leave if you have some real amazing opportunity that requires it. Otherwise, just finish.

Exactly

Masturbate furiously...

In all honesty, the above posters are right. It's just one semester, just finish, it's not that hard. You've survived 7 semesters already, another one isn't going to kill you.

Finish it! It can't be all that bad. Just buckle down and get your degree, then you'll never have to do it again.

But honestly, the course load can't be that tough, considering it's your undergraduate. Suck it up

is that true for everyone? I kind of think itd be easy to come back, once im rested and know that i only have 1 semester left to finish.

Usually after a week of winter break, I was getting pretty bored of being home already and wanted to go back to school. I actually enjoyed college a lot though, and not just the social scene. I actually enjoyed my classes too.

I'm really really really really really really burnt out!!!!

My procastination has been getting worse and worse, and ive had to endure many nights staying up all night working on stuff. Its a pain in the arse!! And I dont really have a life right now, because every time i think about going out, i feel guilty and feel like i shouldnt go out until my homework is done.

but then my homework doesnt get done til like 7am the next day.

for some reason even classes that I originally would think are interesting topics still bore me. its like the teachers at my school dont know how to teach or something.

the social scene at my school sucks, and of course i have a hard time being a part of it, with the guilt of doing homework always on my mind.

do you mean what i do outside of class and homework time?

or do you mean what do i do when I'm Christmas break, spring break, summer break?

Well, both I suppose. I mean, if you weren't in school this semester, what would you do? Work? Travel? Sleep?

Can you take the classes you were going to take this semester in the fall, or will you have to wait a year?

I know how you feel. I could really get into my story but don't feel like publicizing it. But short story: I've been in school for a long time... continously... let's say that winter breaks were my longest time off and I'm planning on doing lots more school.

Anyways, I was contemplating about taking a semester off and I'm glad I didn't. I mean, I was so tired of school but when I finished (well, with the undergrad) i felt so relieved... it was such a huge weight off my shoulders. Yeah, my procrastination got worse but something triggered where I feel like my last year is when I learned the most. Maybe I snapped? I dunno but it's worked out for the better.

Oh, and don't feel guilty about going out even if you have homework. Going out for me helped with stress and that in turn helped with me not procrastinating as badly...

This next semester if i wasnt in school, I would probably get some pathetic job somewhere, to be honest, lol. Like Ive worked at a car wash, and moved furniture, and done custodial work in the previous summers. ALL were better than being in school.

I can take all of my classes during next fall if I want.

you see i get more stressed out when i intentionally put homework off. it makes it hard to enjoy my time if im out with friends or something too.

I would agree to finish up. Taking time off isn't really going to help you when you have only a semester left anyhow. If you feel burned out, then join the club. You're supposed to feel that way.

I would finish the school thing. You could try getting a job, before long, you'll be wishing you were back at school.

Ive thought of another idea.

I was thinking that perhaps I could take some of my classes now and some of them in the fall. If i went part time, then maybe it wouldnt seem so bad.

granted it will cost more money, and take longer, but at least i wont decide to backout before the semester begins, or quit partway, or go through some kind of breakdown or something like that.

Finish now and walk with your class in May/June and get your diploma. You've made it this far, 15 more weeks isn't so bad. Once you're out making good money it'll be hard to do homework, midterms, and finals one last time.

did you read my post above? I was contemplating splitting the load between 2 semesters. in the mean time i would probably just be working some lower paying part time job.
This way I dont quit persay, I just take longer to finish.
