Fly nap. The stuff you use to put flies to sleep in bio lab. It wears off after an hour or so.

The freezer trick will work, but there is a fine line between "too cold to readily move" and death, I would imagine.

I heard you can spray hairspray on them(flying bugs) they won't be able to move their wings. never tried it, though.

It will kill insects, in addition to laquering them.

Wasps don't lose their stingers.

It's going to take longer than 30 seconds.. maybe a couple of minutes.

now its on the bottom of the cup, and not moving around, just "pumping" its butt around. hope i didnt kill him already. do all wasps die after they release their stinger?

That's bees. Wasps don't lose their stingers. When bees sting, the barb sticks in their victim and part of their intestines are pulled out.

Wasps don't have barbs, therefore, they don't come out.

woking on it. maybe ill just transfer him to a glass jar, and make do with that.
Bees do that.. pump their rears like that.

Your fridge is probably cold enough to make it quite immobile. Stick it in a jar and put it in there for 15 or 20 mins. It won't die.

Then just take it out of the jar and put it on a piece of paper.

Take pics.

Release.

If it's in a glass jar, don't for get it'll take a while for the air in the jar to cool down.

get him cold and then give him a tiny string leash (dental floss). then just tie him off somewhere and protect your property.

you got yourself a cicada killer wasp. They will burrow underground and feed cicada's to their young. They are big. I've seen one flying in the air carrying a grashopper before but they can carry a big ass cicada in flight too.
