Taking a 800mi road trip on friday

Wife and kids flew up a couple weeks ago to visit family and I'm driving up to pick them up, while taking a weeklong vacation. It's going to be rough driving 14hrs straight up I-5, so I may sleep a few hours in Oregon at a rest stop.

Anyone in Sacramento or along the way want to go for a drive?

Are you hopping the WA state ferry out of Anacortes or the BC ferry out of Port Angeles?

And instead of sleeping in a rest stop, I would recommend spending the night in a cheap Motel 6 or similar along the way, like in Eugene.

I drove from SF to Vancouver before and it was painful. It didn't help that we went in the dead of winter so the road out of Redding was snowed in delaying us by a day.

Along the way we stopped in Portland and Seattle before hitting Vancouver around midnight.

I can't imagine driving up there by myself, good luck and drive safely.

Planning to catch the morning ferry at Port Angeles. I've driven up there and back a few times already, but I usually switched off with my wife. She's the long haul driver...I'll be stopping every 4-5hrs and taking a few mins break.
