Supposed to be at my destination and, instead in the airport still. Leaving Sunday. What's the fucking point flying in on Saturday to leave on Sunday?

Fuck you United Airlines.

Anyone know if I can get a refund because my trip will be less than a day now?

Depends why it's delayed. You could fight it if it was all their fault, but if it was a weather or airport issue you won't get very far.

The official reason on the screen right now is "late inbound flight arrival."
I was supposed to go to a concert tonight with my best friends and now I'm just gonna take a taxi to sleep in my friends house tonight.

So now I'll be out 50-100 dollars for a fucking taxi as well.

Seriously I just need to vent a little bit. I am so fucking mad it's incredible.

Kennedy? I heard NYC area flights were delayed 2-2.5 hours for weather. I took the railroad from my place to Penn, and then Metro North from Grand Central upstate to my parents place for the weekend. The weather was crazy at different parts. It was literally sunny and beautiful, then it would be crazy winds and a waterfall of rain, and then sunny and beautiful again. It was weird.

flying on long weekends is a bitch... and corporations are pretty much giving the middle finger to lowly customers these day, it's not like we have choices anymore

Jersey EWR. Been OK here since 5pm. Slight drizzle. I'm hearing mumblings about bad weather on the entire East Coast so maybe they got screwed there.

Right now the board says boarding at 11:15 but there is no plane at the gate still. Also the flight is overbooked and they are looking for volunteers to take a later flight for $150 voucher.

Fuck them - really. I hope the people that don't get seats know they'll get $1000+ in refunds.

Edit: 11:45 now. Fuck me.

Also with my wife. If I was alone I'd have stormed the fuck out of here already.

That overbooked thing is becoming common. I still don't get it. But I'll leave that rant be and just say that a $150 voucher is fucking pennies. I've heard them go for $5-600 or so. I thought that was typically the case, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are lowballing people now either. What a crock of shit.

We just flew American to Miami and from Miami to home, had to run across the airport (literally) to catch our connecting flight in Charlotte because they were very late taking off. Flying to Albuquerque in a month, for a month for work. Hopefully it's Delta.

Sorta on topic, we took a cruise last week. Supposed to go to Grand Cayman but one day one, one of the four engines went out. So not enough speed to get there and back. Instead we just went to the Bahamas. Well the thing about that is Grand Cayman is free of the zika virus, Bahamas are not. So my wife had to stay on the boat, and mostly inside as a precaution. Two oldest and I went ashore. She got royaly screwed, and we got refunded 10 percent of the total price. But she got all of her cruise back confronting a manager once we got back. She started out nice, got very angry after they originally told her no. Sorry to hear about your troubles, hopefully it works out for you.

Weather related you're out of luck but otherwise yes, you should be entitled to a full refund (but unfortuneatly nothing more).

You buy trip insurance or a refundable ticket? No? You are SOL.

Who the fuck is stupid enough to pay for trip insurance? Last time I was offered it from the respective travel agency / booking It was something ridiculous like $300 -$500 for a single trip. Seriously? I pay a matter of small dollars for life insurance that would pay out thousands upon thousands, but you want me to pay hundreds if trip plans fall through?

Sorry, I always look at things like trip insurance and say a fool and their money are soon parted. Now if you want to offer me insurance at a rate of $10 or so I might think about it.

This is part of the reason why I hate traveling and will never get a job that requires lots of travel..

I don't mind traveling, ESPECIALLY for work. Worst that can happen? Oh no! Some company (either my company or the client) will foot the bill for another night at JW while waiting for the next flight.

Personal travel though? I would be pissed. I would be livid. Whatever airline better be footing the bill for any expenditures.

North American airlines are absolutely terrible. Staffed with flight attendants who need to be fired, extremely tight economy seating, and delays for no fucking reason.

Aeroflot, Lufthansa, Belavia, among others are miles ahead of US based airlines in pretty much every metric.

Which cruise line, ship and itinerary? I'm jealous. We've been to Grand Cayman but it's been a few years. Have you visited Stingray City or Rum Point? We went on an excursion similar to this. My wife and I can't wait to go back.

Royal Caribbean and Empress of the Seas. Supposed to go to Grand Cayman and Key West on the way back. Instead we went to Nassau and Coco Cay which is their own private island and was actually very nice, then Key West on the way back. But not as good as Grand Cayman. We had excursions booked for swimming with the dolphins and sea turtles. Where the dolphins push you above water by your feet and you can hold onto their dorsal fin as they pull you through the water. My son was very very excited about it. I had never been to either or the ones you mentioned. We went there last year but did not do an excursion, just went to shops and 7 mile beach instead. Coco Cay was still fun, we paddle boarded and snorkeled some ship and plane wreckage. There was nothing with dolphins and sea turtles at the other offered.

The bad thing about it was we were without my wife for the two days. She was essentially held captive on the boat for 4 days straight, and mostly inside while at those two ports. They had told us that everything on the boat would be open but it was not. No shops, no theater, no spa, nothing but the pool and food. She's almost 5 months pregnant and we didn't want to take the chance of her getting infected. We may not go next year because we'll have a 6 month old or so, but we still want to go back to Grand Cayman as it has been our favorite destination. Much better than anything the Bahamas has to offer.

Travel on the east coast kinda sucked yesterday. Our flight was 2 hours delayed and there were a lot of other delayed flights. I know southwest and American Airlines had a lot of delays so avoiding United wouldn't have helped you. It was a combination of weather and being held for connections. I know it sucks at time but airlines often hold the later flights for delayed connections as they want to get as many people as possible to their destination as opposed to stuck at the airport overnight. Your trip was screwed but a lot more people got to where they needed to be

And I say this as someone who only got 5 hours of sleep due to the delays and a really long travel day
