i start to take b complex vitamin pills every lunch time and i notice when i pee..... it is always yellow. i tried to miss a pill for a day and pee... white-clear. so i am expecting what cause the yellow pee is the vitamin pills i take. but i dont get it! i thought vitamin is helathy?

i heard that yellow urine is not helathy and white-clear urine is healthy-normal.

i check internet and seems right. yellow is not healthy and white-clear is healthy.

i google and no answer. iw ant to know from real people and your thoughts. why is when i take vitamin pills my pee turns yellow? it supose to be white-clear if its helathy. when i dont take the pill my pee is white-clear. weird stuff. anyone have any idea?

edit: i googled what color pee is healthy and it has no answer to the stuff i want to know. now i google "vitamin make yellow pee" now i see several people experiecing same. http://sg.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061026221521AAa2UrH seems like many people say its normal for vitamin to make our pee yellow. but i still uncomfortable cause i heard yellow pee is not healthy.

Also, yellow urine isn't "unhealthy" but instead as it gets more "golden"/darker in color the less hydrated you are. Ideal hydration levels are more of a yellowish tint and pale/translucent yellow. Totally clear generally shows you are too hydrated.

It's okay if it turns color, you really have to worry when it begins to taste different.

I thought it was something like if your urine is yellow after taking vitamins that means your urinating all of the vitamin out or at least most of it. Decrease dosage?

Most likely high amounts of riboflavin. Imparts a pretty hardcore yellow color to urine, but it's a B vitamin, so toxicity is not really an issue.

They give vitamin B complex vitamins in high doses because the vitamins are water soluble - your kidney simply eliminates the B vitamins it doesn't need.

Don't be worried about the color of your urine, they recommend clearer urine because they want you to be drinking fluids, however a B Vitamin complex will give you the urge to drink a glass of water in 2-3 hours after taking it anyway. There isn't really a color test for urine, it just tells you how dehydrated you are, or in your case just alot of solutes from taking a water soluble vitamin. When it comes to pee being unhealthy it is mostly stuff you can't see anyway, like glucose in your urine, or too much protein etc.

It's normal. When I took a multi-vitamin my piss was actually kind of green... pretty weird to see. :D

Haha, oh make it stop lalalalalalalalala.

Anyway B Complex w/ C is fairly standard, probably 500mg of Vitamin C. So long as it's the only vitamin C your really taking your fine. I take Vit B w/ C occasionally too but just on days I know I didn't really get my B vitamins or after a weekend of drinking.

Coffee is a diuretic, it'll dehydrate you, though only marginally. Could also be contributing the darker urine color.

And it was thus that the acronym "TPAD" was retired, with a newcomer taking its place:

TPAPY

Take pills and pee yellow.

As others have reported already, yellow urine means you need more water, for the most part.

your body is absorbing what it needs from the vitamin and the excess is excreted unused stuff. Taking B vitamins may also suggest that you need to drink more water when you take it, because of increased dehydration as a side effect.

The true answers as to how it occurs is due to your kidney/urea metabolism mechanics and the process of the vitamin being broken down. B12 skeletal structure below for instance.

Is there actually any genuine evidence to support that, or is it one of those myths that just got going, like the whole "drink 8,000 glasses of water a day or else you'll die of radioactive kidney boulders" thing?

(~64oz of water a day - yes, probably a good idea. The skewed part: A substantial percentage of a lot of foods is water, which helps make up that 64oz figure.)

If I drank enough water to keep my urine running clear, I'd probably get fired for making too many bathroom visits.
