TAKE THIS you thieving scumbags!

As many of you know, the shop I manage was going through a rash of break-ins. After the last one I did some "Improvements". Since then, the shop has had no more trouble. A new record, 3 weeks and NO stolen bikes!
Below are pics of my efforts. (Not 56K friendly)

A new security camera, motion activated flood lights and wire screen over all the glass
More of the same
a new camera, and right above it, motion activated flood lights. The lights come on when people are with-in range of the camera.
SMILE you're on candid camera! BITCH
Inside shot
Another inside shot
Screw you guys, I'm going home!

(Sorry the pics are kinda blurry...)

OH yeah, I forgot to mention. The owner of the mall said we couldn't HAVE screen over the windows (He didn't want the place to have "That kind of image")

Guess what? The WIRE IS STAYING UP!!!!

the point of the chicken wire is what again? looks like you added one camera.

All the break-ins have been "Smash and grab". This will at least keep them from doing THAT. They will have to take the time to cut through it AFTER breaking the glass. I don't think they will stay around long enough to DO that. And so far my theory seems to be holding up! And the new camera system will support two cameras. As soon as they get more in stock, I will be adding a second camera to that system making 3 in all.

BIKE BARN... reminds me of Toy Story 2 😀

Hopefully the thieves will think twice next time. Did you ever nail the employee involved (allegedly)?

May I suggest more screws holding the wire down. They are spread to far apart and may be easy to push the wire mesh through. Also the owner of the building may not of wanted all the screw holes in the window frame hence why he said not to do it but you do need to protect your investment so its kinda hard to make that kind of call.

You didn't wire the bottom glass. I rather imagine it's not too hard to get a person in through the bottom glass and slip stuff out that way. What you should get is a full blown alarm system with glass break sensors, door sensors, and some kind of lock tampering sensors if they make them.

it says OPEN but it hardly looks accessible. 😉

Those wire screens don't exactly look/feel welcoming.

No, but as business slows down over the winter, he will be "Phased out" do to lack of work.

This isn't meant to be "bullet proof" just a deterrent. And they would have to work pretty damn hard to get through it as it is anyway!

Just get that Plasma TV that was putting out the International Distress signal.

Having the US military show up would be enough to dissuade any thieves.😉

The bottom glass is too narrow to slip a bike through so I didn't bother with it. We do have door sensors and we have started chaining the door on the outside. We have also started cabling all the bikes together inside the shop as well!

There is some security film you can buy for the windows. It makes it so when you break the glass, it stays together and doesn't fall apart. If the building owner is giving a hard time about the chicken wire, or if you want it to look less like "that type of area" then you might wanna look into it. I think any professional window tinter should have it?

I saw something on that a couple years ago, and it is/was very, very expensive.

The glass in the doors is "Shatter Proof" so if they break it, they still can't get through. That's why I didn't bother using many screws to hold that wire in. Basically I just did THAT to keep the glass from getting broken again. (That sh!t ain't CHEAP) The large windows are NOT shatter proof, if you break THAT you run the risk of chunks falling on you and removing your HEAD while you try and cut through or kick through the wire!

GO FOR IT! 🙂

Do this:
Take an old car battery that doesn't have a charge in it (or a fake battery) and make it look like it is hooked to the wire.
Then post a sign, "electrified fence."

You won't go to jail for lying, right? (or false advertising).

Actually I thought about electrifying the wire with a cattle fence type device. But I think this will work out OK. So far so good at any rate!

offtopic question, how much do those bikes that are just to the right of the door in the 2nd pic sell for?
