Square Enix also plans to launch the next version of "Final Fantasy" in 2009 in Japan, further strengthening its product lineup.
Overseas launches of the latest "Final Fantasy" game will come in the business year from April 2010 or later, Wada said.
Square Enix will offer the latest version, "Final Fantasy XIII", for both Sony Corp's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Corp's Xbox 360 in North America and Europe, and exclusively for the PS3 in Japan.

<sigh>

I wonder how many other games anticipated for 2009 will slip into 2010.

so is it talking about the same game in all 3 sentences? anyway the ps3 is region free, so its still on muh list woot!

not suprised, but I'm just gonna go ahead and blame it on Xbox for needing a damn port.... Sorry I will have both a PS3 and a 360 by then, but I wish I stayed a PS3 Exclusive, just like I hope Halo stays (and it will because Microsoft owns Bungie) a 360 exclusive

The primary development platform for FF13 is the PC. If anything, you should be blaming the PS3, which is the entire reason for FF13 getting released so late in the first place. Where's TLR for the PS3, speaking of which? (Answer: not coming... ever.)

Microsoft doesn't own Bungie. They do own the Halo and Gears of War franchises. Sony has never owned Final Fantasy or Square Enix. In fact, if you'll recall, Sony actually "stole" the series from Nintendo in the PS1 era because Nintendo completely ignored Square when it came to hardware requirements for their new console. Why does this sound familiar? Hmm.

Sorry for sounding a little fanboyish, but some people have really been closing their eyes with regards to the "WE ARE PISSED OFF THAT THE CELL IS HARD TO PROGRAM FOR" noises that S-E has been making towards Sony for the past couple years.

FF Versus XIII will be better than FFXIII. Just a hunch 🙂

That's the one I want to play... but wasn't there a rumor that it possibly was going to get axed? 😱
