Take a picture of a photo?

I have a photo that I would like to email to a friend. I do not currently have access to a scanner, so I figured I could just take a picture of it on my Canon A70. I am not that great at taking pictures and need some help. Here is what I have done so far.

Taken a picture on auto, with flash - The picture is clear and nice except for a huge reflection from the flash.

I then turned off the flash and the picture looks a bit blurry.

I tried playing with some of the manual settings, but I can't get what I want.

I know a scanner is BY FAR the best way to do this, but I want to do this now and not later. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

if it's blurry try using a tripod or something else to stabalize it... or else take it without flash but with a lot of light in the background...

I tried putting a few lights up, maybe I didn't get enough. The other problem is that I don't have a tripod :)

Move the photograph to somewhere with brighter lighting so the flash isn't necessary. Also, be sure to steady yourself as you take the picture; tuck your elbows in to your body as you hold the camera to your eye. The blur without the flash is probably due to camera movement while the picture is being taken.

Any way to delay taking a shot with the A70? Sort press the button and 10 seconds later it takes the shot? Use that function so you're not holding the camera.

yeah, i can use the timer, I'll have to find a table or something to use and maybe tape the picture to the wall. I'll get it though :)

Increase the shutter time & use a remote if possible (does the A70 support any kind of remotes? My Minolta does, I use it for exactly that...).

Take the picture at an angle (slight), so the flash bounces off and away....works like a charm...

That certainly did get rid of the glare, but I the angle I have to be at makes our heads look oval shaped :) It does keep getting better and better, so tonight when I have more time I'll get a better one.

Do this: Set the picture up against something vertical on a table and prop it in place. Set the camera to auto-exposure, without flash. Set up the camera on the table, aim at the photo, push button and let go. Wait for camera to snap photo. Voila!

Rest your arms on something when taking the picture to remove shaking. Also, try getting a chair or something to hold it on.
