Some pennies could definetly be pinched, particularly in the case selection.

Definetly confused as to why your getting a crossfire card when theres no crossfire mobo? Just grab a 7600GT, better performance and cheaper too. Just saw the instant savings, and places it cheaper than most 7600GTs while being passively cooled. Look up some benchmarks comparing the 7600 to the x1600 and see if your sure you want to get the x1600.

Do you really need a $100 optical drive?

Big waste on the processor and DVD drive if you are gaming. You should be getting a much better graphics card than that.

If you really want a SATA DVD drive I believe Samsung does make them...at least that's what I read. Or just use a converter. It isn't worth the price increase.

And get a 6300 and if need be overclock.

The X1600 series is a piece of crap! Do not buy an X1600XT! Go with either a 7600GT, 7900GS/GT, or X1900GT/XT, or even better!

The people above me are right, a $100 optical drive is useless when a $30 will do exactly the same job.

I think maybe you could just get a E6400 and overclock it to save some money over the E6600 but your choice there.

The case is also overkill IMHO, you could get a nice one for $120 if you look.

Some mobos have been having trouble with OCZ memory and I'm not sure if that has been resolved or not so make sure to do a little research into your compatibility there.

Everything else is fine!

Thanks for the imput.

This putter will be used for photoshop 90% of the time. I don't game anymore so as far as the video card goes my only requirements are two digital outputs and passive cooling. If someone has a specific card that is better I'm all ears. I will check on the Samsung SATA DVD, I don't want IDE if I can help it. As far as the case goes, I guess to each his own. I've wanted one for a while and I like the way they look. 🙂

When it comes to memory if someone has a suggestion as to specific memory that would work well with this system I would appreciate it.

thanks again,

Thanks for the additional imput guys, keep it coming...

The Boston Dangler "I couldn't help but notice the omission of OS on your list... "
I'll install the Vista Beta and go from there... I'm currently using it on my rig know with no problems. I'll look at the Scthe Infinity, thanks

The Lian Li V series is a great case. It is expensive but not over priced; you get exactly what you pay for. If you don't have a lot of drives however take a look at the PC-600, I actually think it looks better then the V1000. The only downside is the limitation of low profile heatsinks but the CNPS-7xxx will fit without problems.

I would go with Corsair, Mushkin, Kingston, or Crucial for the RAM, and consider Asus, Intel or Gigabyte for the motherboard over Asus.

Lastly the Seasonic S12 is great choice but the 330 or 380 watt variant will be plenty for your specs.
