What's the point of guessing if you're just going to tell us the answer?

I feel like I'm owed a guessing contest here, WTB iPod?

I firmly believe so. because they predicted flying cars by 2010 in the 70's. I dont think we will see flyingn cars.

If by "they", you mean the people who also wrote stories about the half boy, half T-Rex, half wolf, then yes.

I just don't see how, based on the laws of physics, a flying car would ever been efficient to operate.

I'm fairly certain we'll have to see some new kind of propulsion system before we see flying cars. You also have to remember that it's not about the efficiency of the cars involved, it's the efficiency of traveling that increases. All of the sudden there are a lot more 'lanes' to drive in and more direct routes.

If the flying car takes 10% more energy than a road car but saves 20% of travel time... bring on the flying cars!

Well, take a look at something like the maglev trains, if you can somehow get the car to float off of a megnetic field it would be MUCH more efficient to propel it forward compared to a normal wheel to ground car.

We don't trust other drivers going forward, backward, and side to side... now we have to worry about them going up and down too? No shot.

Not if computers are doing the driving.... if we can make cars fly effectively we can make them fly themselves effectively :p
