Yeah I've ordered from shop4tech a couple times and they seem to be pretty good.

$25.98 at Best Buy. 50pk of Sony for $12.99. You should be able to find TY's in many locations.

Shop4tech has been outstanding for me. Lucky on my last order as I received tyg03's ($24.90 for 100).

Shop4tech generally has a 10% coupon floating around but can't locate one at present. If you can wait a week or two, these disks are likely to be $26.10 for 100 with free shipping - perhaps even lower.

dabuddha, yes, thats why it couldnt be linked
Lipservice, those are valueline, w/shiny silver surface media, fingerprints all over it
GagHalfrunt, the bb around here were made in taiwan
Trevelyan, those also are shiny silver, good ones to get would be 8x #1739-100 for $34 or 16x #1765-100 for $40

Silver Thermal Lacquer/Silver Inkjet Printable = no fingerprints
Silver Lacquer (Shiny Silver) = fingerprints all over media

if you like fingerprints, then get the cheaper stuff.

There is a Shop4Tech coupon currently available for 10% off.
That makes the cost for 100 TY media @ $26.10 shipped free.
Hard to beat.

Would these TY DVDs be archival quality? I have 50+ gigs worth of digital photos and would like to back them up. I don't trust optical discs overall, but as far as optical discs go, would these DVD-Rs be the better brand to archive important data on?

I have ordered literally thousands of Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's from them and never received anything fake or even remotely questionable.

Thanks...I ck'd them out & they are highly thought of on other forums as well. Plus a great rating on resellerratings.com. I ordered 100 DVD-R's & 100 CD-R's.

Ridata (ritek)'s QC varies quite a bit though. I would personally recommend TYs. :)

If you're going to do optical backup, Taiyo Yuden is the brand to get now that Kodak doesn't make stuff anymore.
