Taiwanese Frankenstein!

Hmm, this would be a real challange for intel. Imagine the posibilities!

Let's have a chipset, named HetroBolt. (Hetrogenous Bag o' Bolts. 😀)

Imagine a combo like this.

Via AGP controller
Via Memory Controller
MuTIOL
ALi south bridge
Integrated (optional) latest Trident video core

All fabbed on a .13 micron SiS fab.

Man this thing would kick some serious butt! Oh, and add dirt cheap prices to this thing, and you have one heck of a chipset.

Let's all hope HetroBolt sees the light of day!! 😀

I dunno about combining VIA, ALi, and SiS technology... 😕 It sounds pretty good, but Intel's chipsets (for the P4, anyway) are soooooo nice (stable, fast, and stable) that it would take a pretty hefty performance delta to make me switch.

My computer already is. ECS K7S5A w/ SiS 735 + ECS SiS 315 video card. Oh and BTW Trident is an American company last time I checked...

If I wasn't mistaken, they had their own fab and produced some chipsets in house..

What ever happned to their fab?

(Oh yeah, and I was under the impression that Trident was Taiwanese. My bad. Make that Integrated Xabre derivative. 😀)

And the advantage wouldn't be performance, rather... price. Imagine this chipset selling for a measly 15$, you could churn out a bunch of Chaintech 80$ mobo's offa this thing. And it'd seriously undercut intel on price, and still beat 'em on performance.

Live, H-BoB! Go H-BoB!
