P4 Heatpipe

Interesting design. Nice to see a heat pipe design outside of that tiny Shuttle barebones box. I saw one other actually, but it didn't have pipes on both sides of the HS - I can't remember its name.

I wonder how the performance on this is. Anyone seen a review for this?

I would buy it and let you guys know...unfortunately, testing a P4 heatsink would probably require that I have a P4...which I don't. ;)

I wonder how difficult it would be to change that fan. 41.3dB is LOUD - definitely not TaiSol-esque. What I'd like to try (if I had a p4 and this HS) would be getting 2 80mm Panaflo L1As, the 21dB, 24CFM fans, and put one on the bottom of the fins and one on top and see how well that cools - it would be very quiet too. Probably only ~24dB because each added fan adds ~3dB over the norm.

So, who's gonna do it since I can't? :)

I dont think you can put a 25mm think fan on there such as the panaflo. the fan thats on there now is 13mm thick and it looks like a tight fit as it is. You could probably put a fan blowing down on top of the fins.

I've got the Cool Master HCC-L61 Heat pipe and I can tell you it's great. With just a 3000 RPM fan it keeps my XP 2000+ at 39c idle and max load I've seen is 46c. With the low speed fan it's practically silent. There's also a P4 version.Text

Oh man, read some reviews of that - kick ass! I'm definitely getting one - I'm going to try to put together a near silent machine (with some 21dB Panaflo's and a new case/PSU). Where did you get it? I only found the L61 at Pham Computers for $35, but there must be places that have it for less since I have seen the -001 (loud version) for ~$29.

Thanks.

I got mine at Multiwave, but thet're showing out of stock. If you want a quiet case I got the Antec Plus 1080AMG with the True Power 430 PSU. Even with the PSU,HSF, and 5 case fans it's really quiet.

I took a quick look,TCWO has them in stock for $34.

Found another place that has it. Click on the thumb nail picture and two large pictures pop up that show a lot of detail on it. This thing looks cool and at $28 maybe I will be the lab rat and try it out.

Cool, let us know how it is. :) That's a pretty loud fan though, so also let us know how much more room there is for perhaps a more quiet 25mm fan.
