Taisol CGK742092 ROCKS!

I just got it in the mail today, and after about 15 mins to install it ( I had to take out my PS to install it) it is working wonderfully. Currently my Duron600@900 is running @33C under FULL LOAD with the case temp@22C. I'm gonna go for a gig later on today... or even further. I just wanted to post that the Taisol is a solid performer, and you won't have to break your piggy bank to get one 🙂. $28 shipped from inflow direcct.
(I am seeing a 9C drop between this one and the old Duron Coolermaster HS/F.

I just ordered the Taisol yesterday from Inflow -- it's going to replace a Coolermaster 6H11. Great to hear it's working so well! Someone else today mentioned "grooves" in the base of the heatsink -- did you notice anything like this?

Yes I did. The grooves were fairly noticable, but I don't have a bunch of sand paper around to smoothen it. Also, these temps are with trying to "scrape my thermal paste off my old heatsink and using it on the new one"..... so... the contact is not optimal right now. I'm gonna get some Arctic Silver from a friend.

????? - The Taisol usually ships with thermal tape. Why are you scraping off the thermal paste from your old HS?

I took tape off because I've heard it's crap, but then I forgot I didn't have any paste on me. So hopefully I'll get some AS from my friend in the next couple of days.... UPDATE: CPU @1050Mhz 43C FULL LOAD 🙂...... I'm letting it run Prime95 right now, and it seems to be doing so without a hitch. Once I hit the "multiplier limit" I'm gonna do some minor FSB OCing. 🙂

I'm getting jealous! Maybe in transferring the thermal paste, you created some type of super-cooling compound 🙂.

Did you ever get a chance to try 1050 with the CoolerMaster? If so, what were your results? I have a Duron800 that will boot into W2K at 1050, but becomes unstable while running Prime95, Proth, etc. I'm hoping the Taisol might help a bit here.

Mine also is unstable in Prime95, but runs other applications flawlessly. I get the "sumout" error. Have any idea what this means? The highest I went with the coolermaster was about 1 gig, because it was about 52C full load... and I decided I wasn't in the mood for frying eggs 🙂. One reason why my duron is running so cold, is because of the temp in my room. It's less than 70 in here... maybe 65 or so and my system temp stays around 72... (22 or 23 C). When I OC'ed the FSB to 104 and 105... it didn't like me one bit.....
I'm gonna try 103 and also the 11X multiplier.

Okay, I think I have hit the limit for my card :-(. It would post and go into windows at 11X100,but a bunch of errors would occur. 10.5X103 had an error when performing 3dmark2k. So I decided to go with 10X105. Prime95 still has the sumout error, but all of the other apps run fine, so I guess it's okay. 🙂

I didn't bother with 10.5 times anything lower than 103 because I'd rather have a higher FSB than a few extra mhz. This is because the fsb affects more things than the pure mhz. I.E. agp bus, pci bus, memory speed etc....

This thing is really quiet. Don't really even hear the cpu HS/F because the PS one is louder. This fan only pushes about 21CFM (it keeps it quiet) and it keeps it relatively cool. It stays around 40C idle.. and 45C under full load(RC5, Seti, Prime95 etc) This is with my Duron 1050 running @1.85 volts and the system case temp is about 23C.

btw the thermal interface material on the taisols aren't "crap" they work very well. They are no arctic silver, but they work. And I'd wager they'll reduce the risk of chipping any sides of ur cpu off.
