its nice that you explored alternate forms of measurement unlike all the big websites who take the easy(and wrong) way out.

Overall a good review. I would have liked to seen the entire Taisol lineup and where the CGK742092 is. I finally figured out when I saw that it was the forged that it was the high end one.

So to me the question remains, how does it compare to the CEK734092($21.60) and the CEK733092($11.30) or the Fop32. Is it worth the increase in cost?

Prices from TaiSol

the 734 is a slighly larger 733. Its performance, on a p3 test platform, is roughly .48C/W for the 733, and .45C/W for the 734. Slighly better performance with the 734. (for example, on a t-bird 1ghz, 1.8V, the CORE temps would be roughly 2C different).

Compared to the FOP32(around .38C/W), you would see a drop in core temps of around 4.5C or so, but whether or not the thermistor would pick this up is another question.

Dovol'no neploxo, pravda dolgie paragraphi ! :)

Also, I personally think there are way too many details. Probably more charts to compare to other heatsinks. Many times when people read reviews they have one question in mind: will be this product better than the other? Without having anything to compare, it will be very difficult to make a decision. Other than that, great job !

Zdravstvuy tovarish! Kak ti pozivaesh? Nakonezta ia nashol esho odnogo ruskogo!

Wow. Cool another Russian :) AK-47 all the way baby!!!!!!!!! Anyway, thanks for the feedback all, I really appreciate it. I think I did get a bit carried away with the paragraphs though. And as Mike pointed out, it is slightly better than the CEK (theoretically, probably a lot better in real life), and costs the SAME. Ignore the prices at Taisol's store, they are way too high. INFLOW DIRECT has em for $20.95 !!!!

Anyone else?

Mav,

This is a great review !!. Checking the temps at the edge of the die is one of the best alternatives IMHO. You even covered the PCTC vs Arctic Silver which is great. Many reviews of various hsfs have been done and they are rarely consistant so I don't fault you at all for not comparing the Taisol to other hsf's except to the Coolermaster for size comaprisons. Keep up the good work.

One suggestion, a second temp reading on the back of the heatsink in the center indicates the delta temp between the core and the hsf. Its quite useful when comparing multiple hsf's.
