taisol CEK734092 or fop32-1??? (on an epox ep-8kta+, thunderbird 900@1000 @1.75 volts))

i have an epox ep-8kta+ and my chrome orb doesn't fit right, so... i need a different fan/heatsink. from what i've been reading, the taisol CEK734092 (the one with the bigger heatsink) and the fop32-1 (that's the socket-a one, right?) seem to be the best options for price and noise (i don't want a fan that's too loud). they are about the same price (~$20 + shipping) but i'm not sure which one to get. i have a thunderbird 900 that i run at 1000 @1.75 volts. i know that many of you have experience with these, and all opinions are appreciated, but i would really like advice from someone with this epox board because there is a tight fit by the cpu (damn resistors, or are they capacitors...?), although i think i read that there is the same cramped space on the kt7. anyway, thanks in advance...

the cek734 has a bigass heatsink, so check the dimensions on the taisol website to make sure it'll fit that board. i have an asus a7v, so i can't help you there.

btw, i love mine. it's super quiet and cools my athlon 1k that i overclocked to 1200 just fine.

The Taisol Cek734 is 60x80x45mm and fits on the KT7, not sure about Epox but probably.
And yes the Fop32-1 is the socket A one.

Hmmm, wonder if that taisol would fit the KT7-RAID--I've got to upgrade my heatsink assembly to cut down on the heat

The cek734 & the 742 only differ in height. They are both 60x80 & if the cek734 fits on a KT-7 then the 742 will fir on a Raid. I'll let you knwo for sure in a couple of days when I get mine 😉

I have the same mobo but with the Duron 700...I have the Taisol fan and can say it fits really snug. plenty of space...you can prolly still get the Taisol fan from that group buy that was going on in the "Hot Deals" section (do a search). THe guy is selling for $13 shipped....

The 733 in that group buy is 20 mm smaller on the side compare to the 734. Check my first sig to get possibly get the 733 for $13 shipped.

Old setup on Abit KT7-RAID:
Duron 600@800@1.5 volts with stock AMD heatsink/fan & pad @42 degrees

New setup on KT7-RAID:
Duron 600@986@1.650 volts with new Taisol 742 using pad @38 degrees

These are idle temps with case temp reporting about 24c. I'm using a Kai-Fong 603 case and 2 80mm Panaflo. It's a quiet setup. This is a week 29 CPU with Muskin PC133 memory and a Antec 300 watt PS.

No bad in my view for $30 for the heatsink and $14 for the fans.
