Tailgate gurus...

I'm having a tailgate party for about 15 people at an upcoming baseball game (A's vs Giants).

I'm planning on boiling some bratwursts in beer and grilling those... only problem is how do I transport my beer-boiled brats from my stove to the stadium? (its more than an hour away) I guess its ok if they cool down before grilling...

Any other tailgating food ideas to accompany my beer and brats? Is corn a good tailgating item?

Thanks

Sounds good. Boil the brats, drain, put into a bag, put bag in fridge or freezer overnight. Take to stadium in cooler. Keep them out of the danger range for bacteria. Keep them below 40 or above 160 (give or take). Corn on the cob is good too. Have a great time at the game!

Oh ok, boiling and then freezing the brats is ok? Cool, so I'll just thaw and grill them at the tailgate.

Thanks a lot

Ugh, don't freeze them. For one day, you can just keep them refrigerated. Danger zone my ass, you're going to be putting the bratwurst OVER A FIRE.

try some buffalo chicken legs.... pre-cook those too, warm over grill.

some mushrooms, onions, green peppers, small green onions...

and don't forget the BEER.

If your grill is big enough put a disposable foil pan on the grill grates with beer and onions in it (and of course the brats) when the brats are fully cooked throw them on the grill for a couple minutes.

Oh yes, and as HomeBrewerDude says, "don't forget the BEER"

If you have ever had food poisoning, eaten spolied food, or worked in the food service industry, you learn to take some precautions. Meats, especially pork products, contain all sorts of bacteria and microbes that can lead to illness and even death. Sure you will cook the meat, but will it be cooked through?? What's the big deal in keeping the stuff in the cooler. Why risk ruining a good time at the game with food poisoning?

Hmm... I think what I'll do is just beer boil them the morning of, drain and ziploc as you advised, refrigerate for an hour or so and then bring them over to the grill 1.5 hours later!

Don't want to take risks as you mentioned, but I think the brats won't spoil if I do this.

Thanks again
