i'd go with the enermax simply because it is $30 cheaper and are both from a good company. does PFC really make a difference? dual rails? and if they do, please advise as to when/where.

Personally I would go with Tagan 480w ATX2.0 version has best of both worlds with switchable switch for single or dual rails, link.

You didn't have any links when I posted. :p
Enermax out of those two. Very nice PSU for it's price and class.

wow, im having conflicting views now

i love the modstream because if i dont needs cables, i can take them off completely, but i like the Enermax for the price and amps

the Tagan is completely out, as its to much for me

I like the Modstreams myself, but both are good PSUs.

Either way, you're set :)

i think i might go with the enermax just because of price, but the only thing i dont like is so SATA connectors

o well, thats what adapters are for

Ok, if i ignore the fact that it would help cut down on clutter, and focus on price vs. performance, which one then?

I agree with the decision for the enermax but I still want to know the dual vs single rail PSU comparison

Just to point out. Monarch has the modstream for 75 dollars shipped. Theres a 15 dollar rebate, so in all its going to be 60 dollars shipped. This is exactly the price the enermax will cost, so price won't be the deciding factor.

1) Increased safety (decrease chance of fire & such)
2) Puts less stress on the PSU per THG
3) Seperates noisy devices e.g. drives, fans, etc. (motor related?) from noise sensitive devices like the CPU. I suspect (read: guess) as CPU manufacturing processes shrink. CPUs could become more sensitive to noise & what not than they are now.
4) Higher AC/DC efficiency at higher power loads per SLCentral.

Cooler running seems to be the trend for PSUs these days. However, can't say for certain if it's due to increase rail #s and/or better PSU designs.

i too was faced with this exact decision, i went with enermax over the modstream. the modstream is cool with its modular design, but once you have a lot of devices, the modular cables become nearly as messy as the usual ones

enermax, good price, good specs
