Tagan 480W for $78.00 - Free ground shipping

No, not really. This is an EPS power supply (24 pin connector for dual Xeon motherboards), with an adapter to work on standard ATX motherboards. It is fairly quiet, and VERY powerful.

In other words, very high quality, and quality does not come cheap.

i have this PS powering my dual xeon rig and it is probably the quietest stock power supply that i have used so far. i have in the past used the stock power supply that comes with the antec sonata, the ~$30 fortron 120mm ps, and a seasonic supertornado. by a decent margin, the tagan was the most quiet and appeared to be the most well built. the cables were nicely braided and it just had a nice solid, quality feel to it.

i say that it is the quietest stock power supply, since I have modified the seasonics to use a rheostat controlled quiet 120mm fan. The tagan is still quieter at startup than my modified seasonic, but after a while, the tagan increases in speed and noise ever so slightly more than the modified seasonics.

This is the only review I could find and I am not familiar with this web site, but they did a good job including taking the device apart

Assuming that this really is a high quality power supply and is quiet - and all indications from this review and from experiences here point to that being an accurate conclusion - this is a very good price indeed.

If you think this is expensive, you either have a horrid computer or you're risking your good computer on a piece of junk. A PSU at this wattage will run at least $115 if not higher.

I have this power supply and i just love it.

it's extremely quiet, yet powerful
its best feature is its 12v line with about 30amps

it powers my vapochill and dual 6600GTs in SLi

Great price too!

I have used this boy for about 8 months, and so far, one of the best.

But sorry for OP, but this is not even a warm deal, because $ 78 shipped was the exact amount I paid 8 months ago. AFAIK, $ 78 shipped has been firm since then.

:thumbsdown:

I bought a 380W from ajump and guess what?

Things were different than ones from the reviews.

Big Internal Heatsink -> Small
PFC -> no PFC
3 year warranty -> 1 year

tomshardware

Tomshardware had the same problem I had with mine.
I had a tagan that I bought from ajump and it died about 2 months later. You would be much better off with a more respected brand(and there are a lot of options in this price range).

Those were all pre productions models that have sense been fixed after they found the problem.
