My roommate gave me a "$5 off any purchase" Taco Del Mar (punch) card, so I decided I would head there for lunch today.
As I'm waiting in line I notice that they have a deal on Tuesdays: 2 Tacos, a drink, rice, and beans, all for $5. I figure it makes sense, so I order.
I head to the cash register and the manager rings me up for $5 and change. I hand him the card, and he immediately cancels the old transaction and rings me up for around $7.50. I look at him like "WTF?" and he explains that the Tuesday deal is void if using a free meal card. I was in a hurry and didn't put up a fight, but he kept explaining over and over why it wouldn't work - I just said forget it, give me the tacos, I'm done.
On my way back to work I was really irked, probably because I was starving, so I call their corporate office to see if what he said was true. The girl I spoke with immediately told me that what he did wasn't right, and is mailing me a gift card.
Once I got back to the office I noticed some additional fine print - the manager wasn't screwing me over - oops!
