Apparently taco bell will soon be using a piece of fried chicken as a taco shell. I'd give it a shot if for no other reason that TB has come out with some interesting stuff in the past

January 26 shall be known as the day the taco shell changed forever, or at least the day Taco Bell started folding up fried chicken patties and calling it a Naked Chicken Chalupa.

“Something this delicious yet different is bound to ruffle some feathers; some might even cluck their tongues at it,” said Marisa Thalberg, chief marketing and dad pun officer at Taco Bell Corp. via official announcement. “However, we feel confident that once our fans get a taste of the Naked Chicken Chalupa they are going to understand exactly why this is our next big, fun and craveable innovation, following in the footsteps of the Doritos Locos Tacos five years ago and the Quesalupa just last year.”

This might actually entice me into a Taco bell for the fist time in....12 years? 15 years?

I really wish the Taco Bell I go to didn't make their food completely half-ass and without care. And these are the people that are clamoring for more money/a raise. I'm sure if they made $15 or more an hour they'd make quality food that you only see in commercials. Mmmm hmmmm, oh yeah.

This chicken thing does sound like it could be good. I'm not much a fan of the Chalupa but I really like the Gordita (beef Nacho Cheese Gordita was f'ing awesome).

You've only got one Taco Bell near you? We're lousy with them. Stopped at one on the way home last night, passed three of them in the 6-8 miles or so from where I left before stopping at the fourth one that we were actually going to.

This sounds like you stopped at one Taco Bell, ate, passed 3 more on the way home, then stopped at another to get more food. :D

Looks like fried shit. A really thin fried processed chicken patty wrapped around some salad and sour cream? Why not just go somewhere like Chick-fil-A or Wendy's and have a chicken sandwich?

Never quite understood the Taco Bell philosophy of inventing new foods that aren't that good and that nobody really wants.

Already got this glorious day marked on my calendar. I don't expect to see any of you weak stomach plebs though. I know you can't eat bland ass Chipotle rice without shitting yourself before you make it home.

Taco Bell is no longer cheap. The combos are like $7-8 bucks now.

Their $5 box meals are pretty filling

Not everyone can handle the level of spice Chipotle's salmonella adds to their meals

what kind of madness is this? 600% inflation over the last ~12 years? (whenever I last walked into one)

Yeah, it used to be super cheap. It's still cheaper than a lot of other places, but to fill up an adult, it does cost more now :(

Depends on what you get, there seems to be no logic behind their pricing. A new item could be semi small and costs $3, yet a beefy frito burrito's a buck. I spent $6.50 there the other day and had a stupid amount of food. Their $1.50 and under menu is pretty good.

Don't really eat there anymore though since they got rid of Lava Sauce and use the same shitty white rice with Cilantro that Chipotle does. FUCK Taco Bell

Chipotle always has been and always will be better than Taco Bell, though. :D

But it's not like they are competing in the same market.

The $5 box isn't overpriced for what it is. The Cheesy Gordita Crunch alone costs about $3. It also comes with the burrito supreme, crunchy taco, drink and nachos. Clearly you can do better elsewhere, but I can tell you right now you won't get a meal and drink for five bucks.

I think I've done Taco Bell maybe a half dozen times in my life, but last time I was there I got a $2 meal which was a chicken burrito (IIRC), a bag of Doritos, and a soda. That's a pretty good deal and if you put enough hot sauce on their food, it tastes fine :D

I'm thinking back to the day when those giant Rocky & Bullwinkle Tacos were $1.50 and the regular tacos were ~$0.70-0.79. Gorditas and whatever "fancy" options came about long after the time for me when Taco Bell only sold "tacos." ...but even compared to today, those $1.50 giant tacos are all you really needed. Two of those was like 1.5 meals in a day.
