Tachometer Help please

So, I've been playing some more grid/dirt 2..

I am pretty good with manual and everything..

But i never figured what the 2 different lights in the middle of the tachometer means

the first (left light) seems to light up first when you approach red, and the next one lights up right before red..


Do they mean anything else? 🙄
