TAC Note: POEM new apps (cpu/gpu)

The big moment has come. We plan to release the first CPU client of POEM++ on Thursday the 16th of September. On this day we will release the Linux 64BIT client, followed by the Windows 32BIT on Friday the 17th (if there are no major regressions found, which we will report on.) If this also goes well the Windows 64BIT and Linux 32BIT clients will follow the 27th and 28th. GPU applications are also in the pipeline, but we won't give any releasedate, until the CPU app is proven to work stable on POEM@HOME. Thanks for your enormous patience.

The gpu apps they're talking about are OpenCL and will work on both ati and nvidia cards.

They expect the new (cpu-)app to be 7x faster than the old one!

Thanks for the heaads-up. I like POEM@Home as project; i quit crunching them because of bad feelings and words between dev and crunchers some years ago
I'll be happy to go back if things are OK now ...

Thanks Tom! I'll have to check in at POEM to see how the new 64-bit linux app performs. It would be great to have another project that uses both nvidia and ATI cards! 🙂
