tabs in firefox2

Is there anyway to allow for multiple lines of the tab bar in Firefox 2.0? I tend to have a lot of tabs open at once and while the scrolling feature is nice it makes it a lot slower to move between tabs then it was in 1.5 where I could have everything visible at once (even if the tabs were very small and it took 1.5 lines on a wuxga display). I have tried lowering the minimum pixels a tab can take up to 15 (which on a 1900x1200 should allow for significantly more tabs then are showing up.)

I would really like to know this as well. I really dislike the scrolling-tab feature. How'd you change the minimum tab pixels?

someone suggested going to about:config and setting minimum tab width to 0, which does allow for more tabs but still significantly less then in 1.5.

Ah IC, thanks. ***free bump!**** 😛

but anyways, I felt that 2.0 is nothing but 1.5 w/ the addition of the popular extensions. I find that a bit lame. They should just release packages of FF then; like FF w/ these extensions.. FF preinstalled w/ a set of these, etc. :shrugs;

Did you even bother looking through the changelogs or the source tree? If it was just FF1.5+extensions why did it take so long to be released?

bump too. I hate having to scroll thru my tabs. I haven't updated ff on my laptop b/c having all of the tabs on screen is must for me.

Let's hope someone releases an extension to fix this....

Found this on Mozilla Message boards, won't be able to see if it fixes the problem til tomorrow

"-How to I get tabs back to how Firefox 1.x was? Type about:config in the address bar, press enter, and set browser.tabs.closeButtons to 3 (puts the tab close button on the right instead of on the tabs), browser.tabs.tabMinWidth to 0 (lets tabs get really small before scrolling), and install this style (gets rid of the drop marker)."

Wow, IE7 must have an incredible number of improvements over IE6 :roll: 😉
