Tablet Size 7in vs 10in

What do you guys think of the two sizes? A website just showed that the Samsung tablet is roughly half the overall area of an ipad. I am trying to decide which is right for me, I already have a Droid X which is sort of on the large side for a phone...

Depends on what you want it for. 7" is still big enough to be quite useable but still fairly portable. My Nook Color still fits in my pocket. Not something I'd want there all day but it's still doable.

personally the iPad screen size is just right for a tablet, any smaller would be a waste in my eyes, but im in the same boat as you with a droid X.

No right answer depends what you want. I have a transformer and I wish the screen went edge to edge which would make it 12inch or so instead of the current 10inch size (the transformer has large borders); many folks prefer the 7 inch size - esp if they use it for reading books (lighter). Btw the nook is esp nice in this area as it is very thin (the galaxy tab is a bit thick).

I'll take the 7" anyday but they need to have 1280x800(1366x768) instead of the typical 1024x600.
Acer promised one and backed out and they only one I've seen is a Levono but that won't come until late 2011.

Its really a matter of personal preference. What do you hope to do with it? If you want something that's a good couch surfer, go 10", you'll appreciate the extra screen real estate. If you want something that's more portable, go 7", it easily slips into a coat pocket and still has much better screen real estate than a Droid X.

I have my 7" and I love the size. I think if I had anything bigger I wouldn't be able to take it anywhere. Sometimes I wish it were bigger, but the benefits of it being smaller greatly outweigh in my opinion.

Personally, I find 10" much better for viewing videos, web browsing, maps, books, and for stuffs like those, simply because those are things where I absolutley need to be able to see as many things on the screen as possible.

7" might be good for portability, but I often find myself going places with a side bag or backpack of sort, so 7" isn't a lot more portable than 10" to me. I think 10" is the sweet spot for viewing contents.

I've heard a lot of people say a big smart phone is just as good as a 7" tablet. Here is a 7" PlayBook vs a 4.1" Dell Venue Pro vs a 3.3" Zune HD.

10 is MUCH better when using the on-screen keyboard, 7 is MUCH easier to hold for long periods. Sometimes I feel cramped on my Nook Color after using the iPad for a while, but never to the point where one is much better than the other overall.

i find 7 better for using on screen keyboards since it's easier to do all the typing with two thumbs. on a 10 inch tablet, 2 thumb typing is impossible in landscape and a stretch in portrait

i just picked up a 10" acer tablet last night and i love it. i'd been messing around with the wife's nook color (CM7 on sd card) and was liking it. the screen was larger than my phone (Tmo G2) so it was nice but still required zooming to read some sites because the txt was too small. playing with the acer at the store was immediately more awesome. the larger screen was just what i needed. i still think its portable, but certainly not pockatable and neither is a 7" IMO. if i need pocketability, that's what my phone is for. for lounging on the couch in the basement and surfing without going up stairs to my gaming rig, this is great (and certainly better than trying the browse the web on my ps3 down there). the hdmi out will be usefull for those times i want to toss a youtube vid up on the bigscreen for company (again, the ps3 sucks at that too).

Meh, I've already evolved a good 6 finger style on my iPad, it's almost as fast as typing on a regular KB.

i like my nook color at 7 inches. it is a little small for browsing, but any bigger and i wouldn't be able to use it as an e-reader.

You have that backwards. I've used both and it's a heck of a lot easier (and faster) to type on a smaller 7" tablet like a Playbook then a larger tablet like a iPad. The 7" tablet lets you use both hands for typing without stretching your fingers, and it's incredibly fast.

I'd say 7, unless it's the Transformer. Tablet I have to hold all the time I use it, I want that small enough to fit into one hand. If I can dock it into a keyboard and not hold it, then 10 inch is OK.

One is nearly 50% larger than the other. Do you do the math?..

Depends on what you need it for and how you're going to use it. For me personally I think the 7in size of the playbook would work better for what I want. The 10in is large enough to not be comfortable to regularly use how I want to use it.

The playbook is a lot easier to type on for me than the ipad is.
