Tablet shipments grow 117% over last year

I wouldn't be surprised if they reach current smartphone shipment levels in a couple of years after this one !

no doubt it's going to keep growing.

^ this.

Tablet + docking station /w keyboard => notebook.

Or the convertable, where you twist the keyboard part around to back, makeing it a 2 in 1, notebook & tablet.

I like the 2-in-1 solutions, esp the docking station idea.
I believe the sales of tablets is gonna keep going up, for along time.

Shipment units went up but YoY growth dipped from 146% to 117%.
On a lower base that is normal, tablets were a niche market last year & only becoming mainstream now, besides you can't realistically expect the same growth rate YoY let alone QoQ !

Maybe, if they run X86. Otherwise it is still just basically a toy and content consumption device. Granted, there is a large market for surfing, social apps, watching videos, etc.

I do have an android tablet now, but will never consider another one unless it runs windows.
I would consider an android smartphone, just for the anytime connectivity and internet capabilities, but in anything larger formfactor than that I want x86 compatibility.

Sure it will keep growing, just like smart phones.

If you think people will toss their PCs, they won't, they'll just have both.

+1
I just got a H.P. Elitepad (x86), pretty happy with it so far. Nice to have when I'm travelling.

It is a bit slow with the one intensive construction estimating program that I use, but it will run and I can load up any job specific prints that I might need to reference for whatever reason when I'm on the road. Couldn't do that with my android tablet or the wifes Ipad.

Also very nice to have real office apps. I got the HP specifically because of the 16:10 screen.

Edit: ...and speaking of phones, I have a windows and an android phone - I am probably the very small minority but I actually prefer the windows phone.
