Tablet PC Edition 2005 Question

We are upgrading our computer os on some school computers. We ordered xp pro but was sent Table PC Edition 2005. Are they alike? Will it work on our desktops?
 
Yes it will work on your desktops. It is identical to pro, but with some added bits to support tablet functions.

That said, it is the PID that determines the OS. The first CD is XP Pro SP2, and the second CD contains the tablet bits. If you get Pro PIDs, you can use the same media to install Pro.
