If I want to convert to a tablet instead of my phone, how do I get Google voice to work correctly. I tried turning off my phone to call my tablet, but it goes right to voice mail.

I bought a Sprint tab 4 as the tablet. Maybe things aren't working right until I activate the data plan on that number?

I'm not familiar with tablets who can do cellular calls (because here in the US we simply don't have/aren't allowed any unless maybe imported stuff), but if you're talking about Hangouts through data (either cellular data or wifi), do you have the app installed and setup correctly to receive GV calls? And make sure that you have a valid data connection?

Yes, the data plan has to be active on that line, unless the tablet has wifi connection which will enable you to make/receive calls from Hangouts (although again, it has to be setup correctly).

I was testing on my tab s2 and now all of the sudden i cannot recieve calls with hangouts, I'm seriously at wits end. Testing with my phone on airplane mode with just wifi on and get nothing there either. After gosling it, there seems to be alot of this going on as well and no clear solution.

That's weird. I was using Hangouts all day today and didn't have any problem. Maybe you could double check GV website to see if your Hangouts integration got canceled?

Yeah after wrestling with it for too long, that's my thought as well. I just changed plans this afternoon, so something must have gotten borked at the network level.

I was using my iPad Mini 2 for about a month as a phone replacement. Hangouts on iOS is actually better than Android (least it was about 6 months ago). I only went back to a phone because my friend added me to his plan with unlimited date for $40 a month.

Turns out, my new plan is "incompatible" with Google voice (rolls eyes). Get this, the supervising rep dug up a legacy plan that is compatible with gv for the same price and monthly bandwidth. Works again.

Ha. Can you tell us which carrier this plan is with? Never heard of any cellular plan that's not compatible with GV before except for Project Fi (but that's because it's its own forwarding service). It's good that they can fix it for you!
