Tablet as phone

Looking at possibly getting a Samsung tablet with data plan and use it as my smartphone. I have sprint and Google voice, I assume this would cover my needs, only issue is having to wear a Bluetooth everywhere.

Anyone try this?

VoIP requires a good connection (latency, enough upstream bandwidth). Sprint isn't really the right network for that (you would want Sprint Spark for best connection, and only 1 tablet is available - Galaxy Tab 7)

You could try Hangouts calling (VoIP) right now, see if its enough.

Some tablets even include a dialer and can receive/make calls and texts

Hangouts Dialer on a tablet works well enough. I'd pair it with a good headset for the best call quality.

Asus make a Fonepad line that has full cellular capabilities which would probably be a better bet as a Tablet-phone. It covers you for poor internet connection areas.
