TAB key switches between windows rather than fields within one window?

I am sure theres an easy way to fix this, but I can't figure it out...

The only solution I have found is restarting: After a restart TAB will work to switch between fields in one window rather than switching from one window to another...

Anyone know how to switch it back without restarting?

Sounds like the ALT key is sticking. Try using a different keyboard.

Unfortunately its a laptop...
and I don't think its the ALT Key. (Because when you hold ALT and hit tab in WinME a little menu comes up with all the windows for you to select one.)

hi there, i noticed this problem too, both on laptops and desktops under win98, havnt seen it yet sinc ei switched to 98se, i found no way to fis it other than restarting like you stated,
i am guessing its caused by an ill behaving applacation that opens child windows and misses up te order in which windows should have focus, meaning, the ill formed child window gets higher priorty to get focus than the current active app, and since that child window is invisiable/hidden it switches to another app instead
