Hey, Smokeball, YHPM.

I'll switch over to SETI again once RC5 ends or I get 300k blocks whichever comes first. 🙂 Someone want to give me all the details for installation, set up, and optimization? 🙂 Email or PM, don't matter. Thanks.

Freeze, I sent you a PM. Thanks for checking-in and pop in anytime for additional help...on any of the threads that mention SETI. You'll find a friendly group eager to help you get setup and running.😀

Ok, out of the 20 people on my list, I PMed three:

RSI
santar72
Schola

-------

Schola just replied saying his entire herd is running RC5.

Assimilator1, I want to especially thank you for your help and guidance in assisting me get this project off its feet. You are definitely ELITE in my book. 😉🙂😀

There have been a handful of volunteers that have shouldered all the work and I want to especially thank Sukhoi, JWMiddleton, Yo Ma Ma, Wiz, Insane3D, El Fenix, and Robor for all of their hard work. You guys are the best. 🙂😀

We are done with this part of the project. 🙂 We have had a pretty good response and I'm sure the TeAm is better off for our efforts. Assim1, You can clear all of the assigned sub-lists from the lead-off post of this thread for they are completed.🙂😀

The master list on the original thread, "Inactive Seti@Members...Please Check In" has been updated and time stamped. I will now sort the remaining uncontacted members by the number of completed WUs and PM that list to whoever would like a copy. Either request it here or send me a PM. I will automatically send the list to all that have helped in this thread.

This effort has been fun for me and it has enabled me to get to know all of you much better. Thanks again.

Glad to be of service. 🙂

RSI just replied saying he had totally forgotten about SETI, so it sounds like he might be coming back. 🙂 I PMed him and told him to visit us over here.

Oda just responded and says he will start back up! 🙂

But he also said the following:

<< But now that since some people actually care I will go back to help TA. >>

What can we do in the future to insure this doesn't happen to any of our TeAm members? As the TeAm gets bigger things do seem to get less personal, especially for those who don't frequent, or know about, this Forum. Would mini-teams help the smaller users? (Did I really say that? :Q)

I was going to wait to post this kind of message when the "Inactive Seti@Home Members...Please Check In" project came to an end. Then I realized that "that thread" or "threads of similar nature" probably ought not end.

During the last, wow it's almost been a month, several things have become apparent to me:

1. People like to be treated as individuals and better yet as friends.

2. It takes a pretty constant stream of contact and exchanges of greetings and encouragement to keep one?s interest level up, to visit and to revisit a particular forum.

3. Atta boys!...Way to Go! type comments build confidence and pride.

4. The wide variety of skills possessed by individual members makes the AnandTech Site and Forums a valuable resource that can provide help and assistance to all knowledge levels. And the willingness to share those skills with sincere, caring attitudes provides the exclamation point.

5. Team Pride (Esprit De Corps) is contagious. Winning is an emotion we all crave.

I live in a casino town and the most successful establishments cater to both the ?High Rollers? and the ?Low Rollers?. Some have tried to cater to only the ?High Rollers? and have failed. We can never praise our high production members enough?they are at the point of our attack, our elite force. However, we must never forget the low production members who only get 1 or 2 Work Units a day. They can be many in number and their aggregate production can equal or surpass the biggest fleet. And you never know which one of the ?little? guys or gals will organize a team of friends and start making sizeable contributions to the TeAm?s total stats.

In summary, if we keep doing what we?ve been doing (as I have outlined above) we are going to grow, we are going to become, more and more, a valuable source of reference and help and we are going to catch that damn Seti@Netherlands team. 😀

JWM
Excellent job Re Oda 🙂

What can we do in the future to insure this doesn't happen to any of our TeAm members?
I'm not sure about how to avoid that in the 1st place ,but staying active in this forum plays a big part I think. Also races between members definatley helps.
I'm not keen on the mini teams idea ,it would make it complicated to do stats unless mini teams could be created without actually joining the names under 1 E mail.
Instead the stats from a miniteam would consist of the output of the named members. That way you have miniteams & individual stats.Of course doing it that means there is no mini team name within the TA list.
The other thing about miniteams that worries me is that it could cause internal conflict.I know some members stopped RC5 & came back to SETI because of the lack of miniteams & no internal conflicts.

Smokeball (again😉)
I just read your last post .I agree on all your 5 points (& doubled on some of them above too! ,doh!)

Thanks go to Smokeball,Sukhoi, JWMiddleton, Yo Ma Ma, Wiz, Insane3D, El Fenix, and Robor for all the hard work 😀

You guys & girls deserve a load of Beer😉hehe

Special thanks to Smokeball whose 'inactive' thread first reminded me & got me motivated to do this.I actually 1st had this idea well over a year ago but never actually did it!:Q😱.
A big pat on the back for so much input from a team newbie!😉

Smokeball
Stage 1 complete ,both my lists updated.
Beginning ground work for stage 2.........after a little rest😉
When the time comes I think we'll start a new thread for it as you suggested.

Wiz
Thanks for moving your last list here🙂

im curently doing rc5 but will be moving to seti when it is done. We recently attened a fly drive in where we met a lot of team members and had a blast you could plan something like that to keep people active just find a central location and get together im still a new member and the rest made me feel right at home.😀😀

wait... a russian that doesn't drink? isn't that like an irishman who... well, doesn't drink? or a texan who doesn't drink? 😀

hi cavdraco!

cavdraco
Thanks for checking in🙂
Only trouble with TA meetings is that many of us are outside of the USA ,I'm in the UK for example

I just checked the inactive list in the 'inactive SETI members' list & I don't see you named, what's your SETI account name?

Hey guys...I am glad you guys were able to get through that list. I am beeen having some serious problems with my cable modem service (Adelphia), and I have just got back some connectivity. They are upgrading my entire backbone, and the project won't be completed until late this year. As a result, my connection is hardly ever working. I finally went out and picked up a 56K modem (AAAAACK!) and signed up for NetZero..🙁 🙁 I appreciate you guys finishing my list of names...I feel real bad that I couldn't help you guys out more..sorry. 🙁

Since I just joined I feel it's my duty to help out here! Send me 10 of 'em.

*edit* didn't read to the end, he he, gotta start doing that! Good job guys and if this ever comes up again count me in for help!

Insane3D

Re 56k dialup ,join the club! ,glad your back with us anyway 🙂.

Bunker
