Third on 4 Sept 2000. We've really been getting crushed the last few days (but still hanging onto the top spot).

I think there has been a steady migration back to RC5 to offset the depredations (that's a big word🙂 ) of the DPC. I don't know if we'll ever get some of them back, so its time for some OGR assimilation love.

It'll only get worse for you guys (hopefully not, we always brag to the DPC's about our OGR team 🙂), cause when the heat really turns up, we'll be campaigning all over the forums (like what we did to the Mac Evangelistas).

We're on the same boat here. Both teams are in the lead, but we're getting slaughtered in dailies.

nexus9 - What has happened? When I left OGR we were still taking the dailies everyday. Has our strength decreased or has the competition increased their power while we remained stagnant? Seems TA OGR and TA RC5 now have something in common they are both losing in the dailies.

Well, the MF by DPC explains the RC5 problem, but we still have a pretty good daily output in OGR, but /.OGR is sure kicking in to high gear. I guess that they want #1 overall in both RC5 and OGR-25 before we blow their doors off in RC5.

All I can say to those people (like myself) who do multiple projects, is to stay efficient Put K6s on Gamma or OGR, Pentium MMXs on RC5 and the fast FSB machines on SETI.

Heck when I went into OGR real hard, I traded the output of a K6-2 for the similar mhz output of Pentium MMX to an RC5 cracker. We BOTH came out ahead in the deal.

I still just shudder when I see someone cracking RC5 with a K6 when a K6 will almost meet a P2/Celeron at OGR.

OGR stats from Sep. 5

/. overall - 3,738,864
TA overall - 3,800,387

/. daily - 181,489
TA daily - 153,291

viztech, I would have to say it doesn't currently look too good for the TA OGR team. For how many days has /. been leading in the dailies?

I've been following it closely RC...

Unfortunately, this is the 4th consecutive day that /. has led us in the dailies. Even worse is the fact that in those 4 days they have almost totally eliminated the once sizable lead that we had.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why either... just take a look at the overall stats from Mika's proxy and you can see that our team OGR output has been in a slow but steady decline.

IMHO, it's real "spiffy" 😛 that we can best their RC5 output by 2-3 times every day, but it is going to cost us the lead in OGR-25. Like I said though, it's only MHO. Everyone has different likes and dislikes... that's why ice cream comes in chocolate and vanilla. 😉

Thunder - I agree with your statement. The only positive thing I can think to add is that OGR folks don't have to wait 48 hours to view their daily stats. LOL!!! 😀

I did another of my famous Opportunity Cost tables for RC5/OGR.

OC ...... Processor
Better at RC5 (lower)
1.02 .... G4
2.05 .... Pentium MMX
2.12 .... PowerPC 604
2.15 .... PowerPC 603
2.33 .... Cyrix 6x86
2.45 .... Athlon
2.46 .... Ppro/P2/P3/Celeron?
2.70 .... G3
3.82 .... K6
3.88 .... K6-2
3.88 .... K6-3
Better at OGR (higher)
2.78 .... Average

As you can see, K6s have as much of an advantage in OGR as G4s do in RC5! :Q🙂 In other words, K6s rule! 😛
