TA moved up from 5th to 6th place in Sengent's D2OL project this week as a result of Team Frozen Yogurt's (TFY) dropping out of the race. TFY's leader switched teams which caused Sengent's stats system to delete the team.

TA did gain some ground on its next nearest competitor, Financial Spreads/SJC Systems with a 687 candidate deficit last week cut to 184 this week. However, Team Finland narrowed its gap to catch us from 1018 last week to 826 now.

What processor can this program use, and which ones are best suited (not the fastes, but best - eg. K6-2 in OGR)??

I'm also interested in finding this out. :)

I don't recall seeing an opportunity cost discussion for D2OL. I'll try to find out more.

One thing that will probably play as big of a factor as the CPU type is the amount of memory on the machine. D2OL is a rather heavy client. Its uses a little over 50MB of memory for workspace. Its using 54,884K of my 256MB right now.

Memory is not a big question for me, but maybe for others.

But a list of performance versus CPU type , perhaps with memory would be nice..

I posted a survey question at the Sengent forums and was able to calc. the following from the data:

So far the average number of Conformers processed per hour per Ghz is as follows:

Palomino Athlon 33.8
T-Bird Athlon 33.0
P3 25.9
P4 21.2
Slot A Athlon 21.2

[Edit] Added T-Bird score

I have the least confidence in the Slot A Athlon score. I'm guessing it should be higher.
No one has posted a K6-2 time yet.
