Would the Alcatel be a better or atleast a decent upgrade from an aging SG2?

Not really, the alcatel has a 720p 5mp camera compared to the 1080p 8mp sgs2. It has a quad core a7 cpu, a7 are low power cpu's, so even though there's 4 of them it doesn't mean they'll be faster than the dual core a9 from the sgs2. Unless you're getting this for free i wouldn't pay anything for it.
